About Willie
Willie’s life has been a difficult one. He was born to an obese mother who gave birth at her home, in a car, on her way to hospital. It wasn’t until his teenage years that he realized he wanted more out of life than being another statistic about obesity, poor health and premature death. For many years he has battled with his weight issues, along with other health problems like high blood pressure, angina and asthma.
Why he chose to become a life coach
In 2001, he reached a crossroad in his life. He had a great job but was looking for more. He came across books on personal development such as Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. But it wasn’t until he read Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue by Neale Donald Walsch that he knew that he had found something special.
How he helps people with relationship issues
If you’re struggling in your relationships, whether it’s with your significant other, children or friends, relationships expert Willie Spence can help. He understands that every relationship presents its own unique set of challenges, but through his years of training and study he has gained some helpful insight into how to get things back on track again.
How he started in coaching
On November 9, 1973 he earned his first professional victory over Canada's George Chuvalo in Toronto. By 1975 he had won his first title—the NABF heavyweight title—when he defeated Earnie Shavers. Two successful title defenses against Jimmy Young and Jerry Quarry followed before a 15-round loss to Muhammad Ali in 1976's The Rumble in The Jungle in Kinshasa, Zaire.
How he got his training
One of his first jobs was at G&G, an electrical wholesaler. He says he worked there for a while, but then left because it wasn’t fulfilling. They only sold electrical parts, so it was very cut-and-dry. Nothing inspired me there, he explains.
