Top Ten Most Corrupt Politicians in The World

1. Nawaz Sharif (Ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan)

Nawaz Sharif was the prime minister of Pakistan from 2013 to 2017 and is considered one of the most corrupt politicians in the world. He was removed from office by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on corruption charges due to documents which showed that he and his family owned properties in London through offshore companies, which were not declared as assets when he became Prime Minister in 2013. These documents also showed that Sharif's three children were mentioned as beneficiaries in trust deeds registered in British Virgin Islands while Sharif was serving as Prime Minister of Pakistan.

2. Vladimir Putin (President of Russia)

Is Vladimir Putin the Most Corrupt Man in the World?

There’s no shortage of examples where Russian President Vladimir Putin has abused his power to help himself and his close friends, but here are some of the most egregious examples of corruption by the Russian strongman.

No Russian president ever had to face a report like this

The report, which was published by London-based Transparency International, is a comprehensive analysis of corruption around the world. It lists 180 countries and provides a ranking for each one based on how corrupt it is perceived to be. Russia comes in at number 29, putting it squarely among countries like Cambodia, Bolivia and Uzbekistan. This isn't surprising considering that Russia has been plagued with charges of corruption since 2000 when President Boris Yeltsin resigned after he was accused of rigging his own reelection.

3. Salman bin Abdulaziz (King of Saudi Arabia)

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz has led the country since 2015, but that doesn’t mean he’s always been king—he once ran the country’s national guard and served as governor of Riyadh province, among other positions in his government, over the past 50 years. What else did this man do during that time? Here are just some of the crimes he committed as leader of Saudi Arabia and its military.

4. Asif Ali Zardari (Former President of Pakistan)

In Pakistan, the issue of corruption has been one that has plagued the country since its inception in 1947. Former president Asif Ali Zardari, husband to former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, was once considered one of the most corrupt politicians in the country – although these accusations have since been proved baseless. While he may no longer be in office, President Zardari is still a controversial figure when it comes to corruption allegations and the associated question of how the Pakistani government can resolve this issue once and for all.

5. Narendra Modi (Prime Minister of India)

Narendra Modi has been the Prime Minister of India since 2014 and has ruled over the second-most populous country in the world (after China). While his leadership has resulted in some positive changes to the country, there are still many concerns regarding his potential conflicts of interest, the occurrence of hate crimes against Muslims, Dalits and other minorities, as well as controversial policies such as demonetization and GST which have led to price surges in essential goods and services. Let’s look at some facts that make it clear that Narendra Modi is corrupt.

6. Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (King of U.A.E)

Last week, Transparency International revealed that their annual corruption index lists the most corrupt man in the world as none other than Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates. Who’s that? Basically, he’s the second most powerful person in the Middle East, and if you think that means he’s less corrupt than other people in power around the world, think again. Corruption isn’t just about how much money you make; it’s also about how much power you have.

7. David Cameron ( Former Prime Minister of UK)

David Cameron made headlines not only as the Prime Minister of the UK from 2010 to 2016, but also as one of the first prime ministers in years to be forced out of office due to scandal and corruption. As British citizens vote on June 23, 2016, to determine whether they want their country to remain or leave the European Union (EU), they should remember that Cameron’s time in office was rife with corruption and scandals that destroyed his moral integrity and tainted his leadership ability. It was these incidents which led to the downfall of the longest-serving Conservative Party Prime Minister since Margaret Thatcher.

8. Kim Jong UN (President of North Korea)

Why Kim Jong UN is one of the world's most corrupt leaders

Kim Jong Un or Kim Jong-Il? We're still not quite sure. But one thing's certain, he's become one of the world's most corrupt leaders after inheriting power from his father at an early age and abusing it to his advantage ever since.

The hotel was originally intended to be an international hotel that would host guests from across the globe.

9. Petro Poroshenko ( President of Ukraine)

How much do you know about the current president of Ukraine? According to The Telegraph, Poroshenko has been involved in several controversies during his career as a Ukrainian oligarch, which lasted from the 1990s until he became president in 2014. These issues and scandals have led some to question whether Poroshenko really understands what it means to be president or if he will use his position to help his own financial interests.

10. Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson (Prime Minister of Iceland)

Iceland's Prime Minister Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson has been in the headlines recently. But it’s not because he’s been doing anything good for his country...
