He was removed from office by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on corruption charges due to documents which showed that he and his family owned properties in London through offshore companies, which were not declared as assets when he became Prime Minister in 2013. These documents also showed that Sharif's three children were mentioned as beneficiaries in trust deeds registered in British Virgin Islands while Sharif was serving as Prime Minister of Pakistan.
